Text description provided by the architects. Bofia_The Tiled Cloud is an updated take on the usual unapologetic, blunt and direct style of the common "Bofia", a term coined in Saudi Arabia for local canteens famous for serving fast, local and affordable street food. The Brick Cloud is an idea by architect Azaz to create architectural solutions and material identities for an upscale modern Bovea.
Boveas is an integrated type of street food in Saudi Arabia. This very popular cafeteria-style restaurant can always be close by anywhere in the country. This has made Bofias an integral part of the local food identity. However, Bovias was left out of the booming industry in Saudi Arabia. For Azaz Architects, Bofia_The Tiled Cloud is an architectural fantasy turned reality.
Bofia_The Tiled Cloud in Riyadh is located inside its building with a regular architecture of sorts, made of simple geometric shapes and straight lines. The project was developed around the idea of building a floating mass that creates a smooth transition between the areas inside the space and outside with its sharp angles. The interior block is imagined as a cloud floating within the space to easily separate the crowded back of the house from the front of the house areas.

Public areas are zoned outside the cloud and within a distance to allow visitors to appreciate the architecture that is created. White tiles make up the main palette for the space contrasting with metallic silver aluminum foam. It's complemented by a strike of light flying through the space to add a pop of color to the white-tiled Bofia.
Through intelligent lighting programming, the design provides different tales of space during the day and at night. The use of white and light colors gives a sense of airiness and high natural light reflection. The same white tiles have a visual appearance and it is interesting that the opinions of the visitor and the observer are equally divided on whether the design is considered minimal or maximal.
